Challenges and Exchanges and things + not receiving comments in my email

*So excited to see the art for spn_reversebang! I probably won't be home when it goes up, but I'm sooo looking forward to it. *REFRESHES PAGE FOR AS LONG AS I'M HOME THIS MORNING*

*I'm currently having a lot of fun working on my art for the samdean_otp minibang, yay!

*and working on little doodles for sassy week and samifer week on tumblr (I'm badbastion over there, so creative with my usernames. I'm also very bad at doing follow-backs. I just can't keep up with my dash, and I don't have time to look at everything I want to look at already :I)

*I caved and signed up for spn_j2_xmas and jeeeeez, my signup comment was so long, haha. I hope it's more helpful than it is overwhelming, to have so many options.

*What are some other fun challenge type things going on around the fandom? I don't want to sign up for anything else where I'm required to have something finished by a deadline; two of those is exactly enough for me. I'd prefer things where participation is optional. Any suggestions? :)

*For some reason, I'm not getting email notifications from Livejournal. I checked all my settings, and I just don't know what's up. I'm thinking maybe it's all the free pandas being shared around that's gunking up the system, but another user told me they were getting notifications just fine. HMMM. So if I miss replying to a comment, I'm not ignoring you, I swear, haha.

I would amend my previous statement - I don't get ALL the email alerts I should but I do see to get MOST. The ones where I don't, I have checked that the correct boxes are ticked several times but nothing seems to happen... I rely on email alerts because I am useless at being proactive and remembering to do things like check my Friends wall thingy and suchlike. So I miss loads of good stuff.

All I'm getting are friending and birthday notificiations, and even those are late, lol. I got one comment email, but it was halfway down my email inbox, unread among all the read mails, lol. Strange times these are. I rely on email alerts too, because I post so much and all over the place, in people's journals, on entries, on memes, and even with the email alerts I still sometimes miss comments.

I'm hoping this'll all get sorted out soon. LJ did some update just yesterday, didn't they? WHY U NO FIX EMAILS?

That is so weird isn't it? There is obviously a glitch somewhere... A bit like our telly that keeps losing one or two digital channels every now and again ITV4 is just gone and we have to retune the tv to get it back. A bloody nuisance when you've set the video for something and wake up to find it's videoed a black screen of death.

I am doing some crazy dance on the reversebang journals. Ahhhhh I'm gonna have to be up for the signups, I want to watch it all unfold! I didn't watch the olympics this year, so bang signups are my stand-ins, haha. The samdean-otp minibang sign ups were EXCITING. I think I took gold in that sign-up. \o/

I'm glad you wrote a long one too. I think you have to actually scroll down the page to read all of mine. I'll have to look at yours to feel better, haha.

Ah, bingos, I want to love you, but you make it so hard. I've signed up to three bingos over the years, and never gotten past three squares. I don't know what it is.

LJ's notification system has been wonky for a while; most of my notes get dumped into my email's spam box so I rely on simply visiting LJ for any correspondence.

Not only is lj's notification system wonky, its commenting system is too. It just disappeared my comment to you, which I promise was very clever, and I was also very persuasive about getting you to join in on the rarepairs fest thingy. No worries, dollface! I'm actually lobbying for Sam/Ruby. I know, I know. Nobody likes Ruby but I DO, DAMMIT. I don't scribble much by way of slash (though I can look at/read it with sincere appreciation), so there's a goodly chunk of me that could get on board with Sammifer. :D

We shall see what happens as the challenge gets rolling! Do you know how the competition is supposed to run?

Oh, I can dig Sam/Ruby. I think she was a great character. Of course she was a demon, so unreliable (but that's part of her charm), but still. I really like how she talked to Sam. Pret-ty hot. And I'm still a little unsure about how it will work, but here's the faq and here's how to form a team/ So you could totally try to get a Sam/Ruby team going, if there wasn't one already :)

Get yourself a card over at spn_30snapshots you can do art for them too.. I got a sexual kink card but they have all kinds of cards to choose from. No deadline, when its finished its finished. I've been working on mine for almost a year now. lol I have 11 done \0/ lol I tend to sign up for things that have deadlines and then get overwhelmed in the end. lol

OMG can't wait for the reverse bang art. I won't be home either but its not claiming day so It's all good, I can peruse when I get home.

I just can't sign up for spn_j2_xmas because I want to get some things started and cleaned up and get ready for spn_j2bigbang next year.. I am determined to finish my fic and post this time around.. So no more challenges with deadlines or things I have to do and then feel guilty about not getting finished or stressed to finish.

I will do insmallpackages if they do an xmas round this year.. is rather relaxed claiming and filling requests.. nothing big or challenging.

I'll look into that :) I just don't like stuff that's too defined - I prefer like, comment memes, things like that, where I can just scan a page and be like YEP, that's something I could do! I've found that loading myself down with to-dos only builds up art blocks for me, and makes fandom much less fun.

insmallpackages is cute and nice - check people's profiles and you can find the links to these comms there - that's the easiest way to travel around I find.

spn_30snapshots prompt tables you can check them out and if you think they are too constrictive then don't bother. Really they just give you a one word scenario that the fic or art should be done around.. like mine is get your kink on and a prompt is Gags and that's it. I wrote a fic where Sam uses his tie as a gag for Dean while having sex.. but its just a general gags so you interpret it the way you want but because mine is get your kink on.. its all sexual. They have an entire list of prompt tables to choose from.. No deadline at all.

In small packages is a prompt fill. People ask for art or fic or picspams.. sometimes icons or just pictures of specific things not spn related its a multifandom and or item thing. But there is a lot of spn/j2 requests for art and fic or icon.

Seriously though, I don't really know about any open challenges like that. You could try going for individual collaborations with an author though, that way, things will be done when they are done. Personally, I like having deadlines, because they kick me in the butt and actually make me DO things.

Also, OMG RBB! So many awesome, pretty images. I can't wait to see what gets inspired from all of this. Also, I'm really happy that for once I don't have to stress out about trying to claim stuff, but can just sit back and watch it happen. Although, I'm definitely curious about who I get to work with this time.

Noooooo, not everything! lol, I've learned through my fandoms that if I put more than a few must-do things on my plate, it becomes less and less fun. And art block ensues, and bleeeehhhh, everything sucks, haha.

I could just creep through my flist and find fics that I want to draw from. I also like the comment memes, like the ones ohsam and hoodie-time had this summer. And I guess there is the kinkmeme!

I am so looking forward to watching the claims. It'll be so much fun! Like watching an auction, or something :) And I can't wait to find out who I'll be working with, either.
