First off, welcome, new friends! I've gotten such a warm and slightly lascivious welcome to the fandom that I hardly know what to do with myself. SPN fandom and people in it, you are amazing.

I am just... overwhelmed, at the sheer volume of content this fandom produces. Not just content, but EXCELLENT content. I guess it doesn't help that I'm still going through the backlog; a lot of the classics are new to me. Which is kind of cool.

I swear, one day I'm gonna read ALL the Wincest fic, and all fic for the other pairings that have snagged my interest (Samifer, Sassy, why must you tempt me so? Guess I know who my fandom bicycle is. My fave will always be Sam/Dean, though ♥. Though bearded Ghostfacers dude/shy intern runs a close second, some days, and I'm not even sure if I'm kidding. So tragic, their love!) Oh yeah, and I'm going to write some more fic, too, because there are aspects of Sam/Dean that I'd love to get up to my elbows in and explore ;)

But right now, I have so many arts I want to art. Working on minibang art for an awesome story, need to post up a Samifer pic. Also, I want to do a series of the Bearded Men of Supernatural. I've already got a Chuck done, haha, now all I need are Bobby, John, Alistair, the Ghostfacers dude, Henrickson's sharp little beard... Crowley's got a beard, yeah? And does Lucifer? he's skirting the line. Castiel's skirting it even more. Am I forgetting any beards? Haha, I may end up with just the Chuck picture. GOOD ENOUGH! because Chuck is awesome. I'm actually considering a paid account just for more icon space so I can have icons for all these cool characters. I mean, I've already bought extra icons for my free account, lol, but I am a hoarder.

Additionally, I may start livestreaming when I draw in the near future. I've done it before; it's a lot of fun. I don't know if that's a thing in this fandom or not. If I do, I'll put up a journal about it, and maybe people will come, haha.

I would TOTALLY be interested in watching a livestream of yours! I know a few artists who've done it before, and it was really interesting to watch on the rare occasion I could make it. It doesn't seem to be as popular on LJ as it is on other platforms though. Alternatively, I know some people upload livestreams to YouTube and speed it up, if it's a particularly complicated piece.

I hope I can get my ass in gear to do an LS or two, because I really like the social aspect of it. I do wonder how well it would go on LJ, though. What I've done in the past is, I've made a journal for LSing, and invited anyone interested to track the journal. Then I reply to the journal with the livestream link and some idea of what I'll be streaming, so it'll show up in people's emails. It's kind of worked before. I wonder if it's a better option on tumblr, hmmm. I don't like tumblr nearly as much, though, lol. I've never done the youtube thing though, but if I do a worksafe piece that I like I may try that some time :)

That sounds like a good idea! I think livestreaming is more popular on tumblr, but I've fallen out of using it lately TBH. There's just so much... EVERYTHING.

I swear, one day I'm gonna read ALL the Wincest fic
You would need 9 lives to read all the Wincest fics that have been produced by this fandom ^o^ (Or win at the lottery, stop working, hiring two assistants to read the fics with you ^^)

I love how enthusiastic you are when you talk about Spn and about your art! \o/
Seeing you live streaming would be awesome! I hope you will do it one day.
I really love your work, particularly the latest Sam/Dean stuff you posted recently.
Good luck to you on your next projects ♥

Haha, I'll never get it all read! I listen to a lot of podfic, though, so when I'm busy I can still get Wincest streaming into my brain.

I am very enthusiastic about it! So far it's been a lot of fun. For the past few years I've been drawing really regularly, but then for about six months, something happened and I couldn't draw a thing. Then I tried some SPN art, and I was back on the horse again. It was great :)

Thank you, and thanks for friending me! I love your art so much, and I don't know why I wasn't watching you before. I'm glad that's fixed now :)

Livestreaming? What would you stream? *is intrigued*

I know what you mean about this fandom - I joined late; kind of sidled in like a crab and I'm only just now starting to really get involved, so I admire you for diving straight in the deep end! But there is sooooooo much good stuff, especially the art and the fics, it is kind of overwhelming. I still haven't finished reading all the Big Bangs from last year, and have a folder full of this year's to read... The various reccing communities are good - if you aren't following those it's worth joining.

Date: 2012-09-12 02:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] badbastion.livejournal.com
I'd stream my desktop while I drew in photoshop or paint tool sai, and it would be some kind of SPN art :) It's fun--I've found that I like drawing with an audience, it puts me under a little bit of good pressure and makes me try a little harder to make my art look good, plus real-time "that arm looks wrong" type criticism is also very helpful!--and the chat section can be a lot of fun, too.

Ah, I had about six months of listening to podfic before I dove in, so at least I got a little head start. I have joined a few reccing comms, plus the daily/weekly recap comms, and those help. I save a lot of the recced fic and stick it on my modded DS or my Kindle thing for reading when I'm away from the computer. It's like you *need* multiple platforms to even halfway keep up, lol. Alas, I don't have a smartphone, or it might be a little easier, haha.

Good luck on catching up!

Ha ha my kindle is chock full of fics too...

I'd love to watch a live stream drawing session! What a great idea.

Actually, I have a question for you. If you draw something on paper then scan it into GIMP/photoshop, would you consider it cheating to correct erriors in your draftsmanship digitally? Does it devalue one's art?

Date: 2012-09-12 08:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] badbastion.livejournal.com
Well, hmmm. If it was my call, I wouldn't say it was cheating, at all. It just wouldn't be wholly traditional art--it would be digitally enhanced traditional art? I don't know, that makes it sound like "digital" is better, when they're really just two different animals. Maybe I'd just say a work was created traditionally and touched up in whatever program.

Does it devalue one's art? I... I don't know, lol. I think if someone is a strictly traditional artist and they use photoshop to fix mistakes, but still call it strictly traditional, that's kind of iffy, because the physical copy of the art isn't going to be the same. But if what you're looking for is the best finished image possible, and using a graphics program to edit your drawings makes them better, then that's a good thing, right?

You may be asking the wrong person, haha. I don't really have training aside from a few years of high school art, and I rarely use traditional media these days--I just manipulate shapes and lines and colors in Paint Tool Sai until I like the way it looks, haha.

And yay, thanks for the friending! I've friended you back :)

the last time I studied art there was no digital it was that long ago! LOL
I guess I'm not selling anything anyway so I don't know why I'm thinking there might be something "wrong" with what I'm doing - I just get so excited that I can now do a pencil sketch, stick it into GIMP then fiddle around with it until that too long nose is the right length - IDK, it's kind of like Christmas bwhahah!

As an author I can tell you, there is so much fic out there that it will take you FOREVER to read just the wincest.. I alone have 34 wincest fics and I just started writing wincest last year, before that I was strictly J2 but the evil bore worm that Wincest is worked on me until it won me over and and invaded my soul. Everything in this fandom eventually becomes and addiction if even look at it once you can't turn away until its in your brain forever. lol ;)

Oh live streaming... Sounds interesting and fun, I await it.

Chuck is awesome.. Interesting idea of the bearded men of spn... hummmm Don't forget Sammy's scruffy face in season7 when he was in the insane asylum... iddy biddy beard but BEARD...

Not gonna lie, I wanted you as my minibang artist when I saw your name but I got a great maniper I worked with before and she'll be awesome. =D

Scruffy Sam! I'd forgotten about him. I haven't reached S7 in my rewatch yet--S6 and 7 are kind of fuzzy in my head. I'd been hoping to catch up before 8 started. Oops, lol.

I like beards, haha. They all fall in a spectrum from totally amusing to totally attractive, depending on the guy.

Maybe some other time we'll be working together :) You are cool, and seem like you'd be a lot of fun to work with!

Oh man J2.... I've listened to a few podfics (on accident, lol, but once I started listening I just didn't skip to the next one) and I don't want to get hooked on those too! I think the only thing that's keeping me from it is that I don't know very much about the actors, except that they're hot. And it's totally weird... to me, Dean is so much more attractive than Sam, but Jared is totally hotter than Jensen! Dean's just some archetype that my id loves, I guess, lol.

Date: 2012-09-12 06:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dolnmoon.livejournal.com
I've always been a Sam girl.. but lately Dean has been appealing to me a lot more, maybe its from writing all of the porn with Dean as the dominate.. lol

Jared is my total man.. I have a height kink, always have, I love love love tall men. Also it doesn't hurt that he's hot as hell and totally sweet and gentlemanly.

I thought J2 or any rpf was squicky and wouldn't get involved but then my wife confessed to me that she'd been reading J2 and found a fic called bullet proof that she thought I would love... I read it with one eye closed and by the time I was done, I was hooked, read 10 more fics and started writing it too. I wear a tinhat for my J2 boys and have definite opinions on the subject so do not engage unless ready to have a full blown conversation about them. lol ;)

Not so much a beard gal more of a tiny tiny scruff.. lol I guess I like my men as clean shaven as possible but can see the hotness in the scruff.

Jared is TOTALLY hotter than Sam - not sure he's hotter than Jensen because that man is hotter than the sun - but more attractive than him, yes I'd absolutely agree!!

Hello! I think 'warm and slightly lascivious' is an excellent way to sum up SPN fandom, honestly. Your art is crazy good, I can't wait to see more. And oh, as someone who has been in SPN fandom since right before season 2, I can attest that reading all the Wincest will take...a very long time. A very, very long time. But it's absolutely worth the effort! When I'm not writing, I'm reading, and it's hard to find time to keep up!

A livestream would be fascinating! I don't think I've ever run across that in SPN fandom!

Anyhoo, welcome! :)

Thank you! :)

Oh man, I don't really hope to read all of them. But I want to at least get the good ones. I listened to podfic for about half a year before I started creeping around livejournal, lol, so I had a little bit of a headstart.

I saw one mention of a livestream, somewhere. They're a lot of fun, and I hope I can get that going :)

I think someone should set up a wincest-themed nursing home for us all to retire to, because I am pretty sure that we will all still be trying to read all the fics many, many years from now.

:)

Date: 2012-09-12 02:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] badbastion.livejournal.com
Haha! They'll have to give us all large-print reading devices, the rooms will be decorated like cheap motel rooms (will we get Magic Fingers?), and dessert will always be pie. That is where I will retire, I am now determined.

And don't forget the transport van would look like an Impala.. plus it should be mandatory that all of the staff look like a character from SPN.. especially the bathing aids.. then Sam and Dean look alike's are required...;) ;) lol

It will take you many, many years to read all the Wincest fic written up to this point...I haven't managed it myself, and I've been part of the online fandom since early last year! XD Good luck though, it's certainly an entertaining challenge.

This fandom is great, right? When I posted my first fic the welcoming was so amazing. :D Everybody was so nice! And the sheer talent (and productivity, yeah) of this fandom makes my head spin. There are so many talented writers and artists, omg.

Looking forward to seeing more art from you, I really like what I've seen so far! :D

(As for bearded men, I was gonna say Rufus, but then I looked at a picture of him and saw he really only has a mustache and bit of a goatee, so. XD)

There is so much fic, omg. It is fun to find really amazing fics, and it happens with astonishing frequency. I love this fandom. And I know, they are so welcoming! I was kind of stunned when i first started posting. I was thinking, you know, I'm just starting out so I'll get one or two comments on a post for a while, and gradually, if I work hard and network, 'll get a few more. That's how it's been in other fandoms. I was unprepared, haha.

Ooh, Rufus! I like his goatee, and if I have the stamina to get that far, I will totally do him. He's got some white in his beard, yeah? That always looks interesting :)

Sooo much amazing fic. You should see my to-read list, lol, it's like five miles long! Super welcoming. I love this fandom, pretty much everyone is so nice. I've only been in one fandom before this one, and I was mostly ignored, but here...I don't know, everyone just seems a lot friendlier, more talkative, and more interesting!

Yes, it's so much fun! :D I remember when we were both first watching it on Netflix, so long ago XD I guess it wasn't really all that long ago though. And yeah, oh man, the sheer ridiculous volume of content is CRAZY awesome. The people I've met so far have been really cool, too. Makes me wish I'd jumped in much sooner!

I just recently found your art and fell in love with it :) Livestreaming would be perfect. Many artists in the fandom do it and it is just so much fun to watch, like having a backstage pass to the show. If you were to do some livestreaming, would you be willing to record them to watch later? Good luck to you :)

Thank you, and may I say we are experts in the warm and slightly lascivious department, it's a gift.

I wish you well as you embark on your quest to read all the wincest out there, I reconmmend the use of a TARDIS, and lots of coffee. There are many wonderful stories and authors in this fandom, sadly I'm not one of the talented ones. The closest I came to writing Wincest, was a little role play between J2, with a guest appearence from Lucifer.

I'm looking forward to your next pieces of art, that little series you have planned sounds fascinating. and I just love Chuck, oh and please don't forget papa Winchester! I'm begging here.

The livestreaming sounds intriguing, you'll have to explain how to view it, for all us technophobes out there...ie me.

Date: 2012-09-15 09:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] badbastion.livejournal.com
Haha, I'm starting to get the feeling I'll never read them all, woe is me! It's okay, I'll get plenty in before I'm too old to read.

Papa Winchester is definitely on the beard menu, lol.

Livestreaming is just, you slick on the livestreaming link I provide (which is http://www.livestream.com/badbastion) and I broadcast my desktop in real time (or close to real time, there's a tint lag) in the video box, and you can chat in the chat box :) You don't have to have an account or anything, I think you just put in a nickname when you go to the chatbox, if you want to chat. It's easy, just the ads can be annoying, lol.

Thank you!
