Misc: Watercolor! First one in almost a decade, not counting a paint-by-numbers watercolor kit I did about a year ago. 8.5x11 paper, took about all day yesterday haha.
Summary: Haunted by his ability to empathize, Will Graham dreams.







Dr. Lecter: The structure of a fungus mirrors that of a human brain. An intricate web of connections.

Will Graham: Maybe he admires the way they connect, the way human minds can’t.

Dr. Lecter: You can.

That right there is what I love about the show. There are a lot of other interesting things going on that I'd also like to get into, but Will Graham's irregular mind and Hannibal's interest in it makes the show for me.

On the art side, eh, it's not bad for a practice run. Didn't really get his likeness, and I know I was too impatient with the paints. I'll head over to spn_roundtable and read a few interviews, and watch some youtube tutorials. Or maybe I'll run headlong into the arms of my other old love, charcoals~~~

Additionally, I like the sketch better, lol. The mushrooms didnt come out like I wanted, and I like his face more here too.



But like they say, practice makes perfect. Or at least better!

(I am aware I'm being a bit rough on myself, but I'm not being down on myself. Just kind of thinking out loud about what I can improve on, I guess haha.)

Well since you know I don't watch this will solely be based on how nice your art is. I love the colors and the lines. The mushroom concept is very nice, very interesting brain idea. Great job for your first run at traditional media in a long time. <3

Mmm watercolors <3 This looks SO kickass. I do love the colors. The sketch is indeed quite kickass, the added detail that gets lost in painting is nice so thanks for sharing! And yay for not being down on yourself but just looking at how to improve, but for picking them up for the first time in a while, yayyy for you!

Watercolors! I think I treat them kind of like acrylics, the same way I treat acrylics like watercolors, lol. One thing I love about Hannibal is the way they frame Will Graham in cool green and blue and aqua. I think that's another things that makes me love Will. My colorssssssss <3

Hahah, that could explain things (not like I know the difference in how they should be treated, never having studied technique).

It is cool, I like cinematographic stuff like that. COLORS are WIN. Have you ever seen the French films Bleu, Blanc, and Rouge? They're a trilogy but not sequential exactly, but they're beautifully filmed. My favorite is Bleu but it's really kinda depressing... and blue, obviously.

Wow, this is great. For your first attempt in a while, I think his likeness is quite uncanny. Then, I'm not an artist, but my kids are all art-inclined and I know from watching them how difficult human faces can be.

I kept forgetting to pop over here and tell you how much I luuurrrrv this! Blue and brown together is magical, and the concept? Fantastic. Watercolors are a bitch to control but man, they effects are gorgeous.

Eee, thank you! I love blue and brown, and the show keeps putting this character against blue or aqua or green backgrounds, like it's trying to subliminally make me love him, lol.

I hope to get better at it. :) I think I'll try Charlie Bradbury next; she's got lovely coloring and hair, and an intersting, pretty face.

*whispers* Will Graham. Oh man, Hugh Dancy is doing so well at making him believable and giving him tiny little idiosyncrasies when he's uncomfortable or confused. Guh, and Will's so brilliant and haunted and I really want to curl his hair around my fingers. Lol, although I went back and re-watched Red Dragon this weekend to appreciate Will's other reincarnation and he is amazing too. A little more intense, but he is supposed to be older and more hardened. There is, also, something about British actors taking on American accents that I just love. I can hear them saying certain words a little too precisely, and I like it.

Your sketch is my fav - I can see the fungi twining behind his head a little more clearly. Although his hair in your watercolor is making my fingers itch with how perfectly magnificent it looks, curling around his ears.

Thank you! <3 Agh, Hugh Dancy is KILL LING me. Yes, his hair is gorgeous, so loose and curly and shaggy.

I don't know what it is, in pencil I can't do hair for anything, but when I'm painting, digitally or otherwise, it's so much better!

I keep almost rewatching Red Dragon, lol. I got about 15 minutes into it yesterday before I realized I had something else to do. But I will watch it today!

So I maybe watched 5 eps of Hanns today...

And now I can say I know who this is! I actually fell kindasorta asleep during this episode and woke up to the shroom body with no explanation nor inkling as to what events could result in THAT. Which says so much because I internet a lot. I imagine a deer/moose/elk/wasn't listening is lurking just out of the shot behind him here. :D

Mr. Mushroom Man totally creeped me out when he started going on about how they're "reaching out", just btw. What was that shit? Who says that? Stop it.
