(no subject)

I drank some coffee because I was tired but couldn't sleep, so I wanted to livestream, but I didn't want to pass out within 30 minutes of starting. However, my internet's acting up, so I couldn't livestream. Now I don't know what to do with myself.

I have an idea for an original story I want to write, but I don't know where to start. I know that excessive exposition infodump isn't the best way to begin a story, but I'm so used to fanfic, where everybody knows the world you're writing in, and you don't need to explain things. I guess I'll go on a "how to write o-fic tips" search soon.

Being good at art continues to elude me. I have been drawing every day, however, even if it's just for a few minutes, so I'm hoping something will catch on soon in my brain and I can get to my commissions.

Long story short, there's a guy who can see ghosts out of one eye - they're real, and a very small % of the population can see them - and his partner, who clear out neighborhoods that big companies will be moving into (for strip malls, or office buildings, etc) for a living. The partner talks to the living, and the main guy talks to the dead. In the course of clearing out one neighborhood, they run into a group of teenagers/young-twentiesomethings who are squatting in this ruined old house, and they refuse to leave, and things go downhill/uphill from there, lol. :)

In original fic you just info-feed rather than -dump - trickle stuff in as and when it's necessary. it's part of the fun trying to work out how much and when! It's great your depression is easing up enough to let your imagination start to breathe again, whether you are successful or not is kind of secondary, really. It will come!

Thank you! Yeah, it was nice to get that little breathing room, I'm hoping it'll stay. I'm on a new med (again) to see if it can do something about my depression and energy levels. And ah, that makes a lot of sense! I need to read a few short stories to actually pay attention to the mechanics of it :)
