Hello all!

It's so great being back home that I've been neglecting my online activities. I've tried to skim through my flist, and I've bookmarked a few fics to read, but other than that I've been going to the beach and hanging out with my family and stuff. It's so great :D

There are, however, not-so-great things about being out in public. One of them is that in the South (and probably everywhere else) people are opinionated and feel entitled to share their opinions with complete strangers, no matter how offensive @_@ So I went with my sister to Boy Scout camp to pick up a nephew's fishing rod that he lost, and while I was waiting, I stepped out of the car to smoke and had this awkward conversation with another smoking man.

Him: *gripes about having to smoke in the parking lot*
Me: Yeah, they're pretty much making most places smoke-free these days.
Him: They won't let you somke, won't even let you dip. But they'll let the faggots in.
(Now, this was kind of a slap in the face for me. It isn't every day, or even every year, that someone just throws that word up in casual conversation with me, so I was kind of shaken.)
Me: That is offensive.
Him: What?
Me: I am offended by that.
Him: *tries to justify it by explaining how since they've allowed homosexuals in the Scouts, people have stopped donating and many lodges have had to shut down*
Me: I think I'm glad they're letting them in. And I think we shouldn't talk any more, because I'm gay.
Him: Oh. *HUGE SIGH*

So, I went around to the back of the car and finished my smoke, and I told my sister about it on the way to the lake. By then, I was over being shaken by it, and I found it funny how robotically I delivered my "That is offensive" and "I am offended by that" lines, lol.

So, it was recently National Coming Out Day, and I officially did that a few years ago. But, if you didn't know, I'm bisexual. I consider myself/sometimes call myself gay or queer, because that's a lot easier to explain/easier for people to understand or believe than bisexual. So hi, I'm badbastion, and I'm bisexual. I love people in all shapes and sizes and colors and genders and orientations.

Commissions! I'm working on them. Life got really busy last week, but I'll be putting my nose to the grindstone this week and getting some serious progress made. If you're reading this, feel free to prod me in a week if you want to know where I am with your commission. Otherwise, if I don't have a rough sketch or any progress to show you within a week's time, I'll email you and let you know I haven't forgotten you. Even if you're not reading this, lol.

One more thing! I have a very special place in my heart for this meme, because it was here that I posted my first two pictures and my first fic in the SPN fandom. It's a great meme and it produces some wonderful fanworks, and I think EVERYBODY should take part in it.

"I love people in all shapes and sizes and colors and genders and orientations." Isn't that a much more awesome way of saying Bisexual? Love it. I actually wish everyone was Bi because I think it would make the world a better place. I'm also impressed how you handled that bloke, I probably wouldn't have managed to tell him how offensive I found him, I'd have done the British 'mumble and find an excuse to walk away' thing.

Being near a beach is awesome and a great excuse for not being on the interwebs.

I can be attracted to just about anything in a person, and I never know what it's going to be until I realize I'm attracted, lol. I don't wish everyone was bi, because variety is good, but i do wish more people were. Or at least that more people would realize and admit that they were! I think there's too much homophobia in the world right now for people to really understand their own feelings, sometimes.

Oh man, there was nothing else I *could* say, I was so stunned. It was like I was on autopilot for a minute, it was so strange.

I love being 15 minutes from the beach :D

Go you! :) Really, for saying anything at all. I had a friend who was once almost beaten up in New Orleans (of all the places in the world) because he "looked gay" (he was wearing suspenders and a sixpence, and is, as a matter of fact, gay), but didn't notice it until I turned around and shouted "can't hear you through that closet". Which, uh. Random comment, and slightly O.o;, but it did the trick.

Coming up with something clever on the spot is hard, and it's even harder to take a comment seriously and reply with "I'm offended by that" than a stupid funny comment. *applauds* :)

Idk, it was really weird - I was just so surprised and offended I wouldn't have been able to think of something clever or funny to say. So I just said the first thing that came to mind. Good thing I'm not the belligerent type, because afterwards, I thought of a lot of things I would have liked to say to that bigot, bleh. I might have gotten my ass kicked, lol.

I know what you mean. A friend of mine was making jokes about feeling "ADHD" a few days ago, and I got all kinds of huffy and offended over it, but in the end all I managed to do that particular time was get sullen and cranky. :P It's ridiculous, because in my head I was chewing her out over her bullshit.

Maybe it's for the best that we get tongue tied? Lol. I even get tongue tied over twitter about stuff like this, when there's no risk of a beating. 8D

first off I'm kind of pissed that he was mad about having to smoke outside. I was born with very weak lungs and even the smell of smoke can make me choke. I was almost killed a couple of times for it. I seriously have to carry around 3 inhales all the time just in case I stop breathing. That's a heath hazered for some people so comparing it to having "faggots" like us join the boy scouts doesn't even come close. I'm glad you stood up for that, most people would just let it continue. You go girl!

I know man, I smoke, and I would never presume to smoke inside unless it was a smoking household with no kids. I have no kids, and I don't smoke inside my place, either. And jeez, that mental leap he took! Totally boggled me.

Ah, the bigots who think their stupid opinions matter at all. You did a good job bb, there is nothing better than to hear a moron making a bigger idiot of himself. Actually talking calmly is the biggest slap you to a person than yelling or not saying anything.

Oh lord. I'm glad I've never been in this situation because I would totally had said something in the lines of: Is it a dick that you're picturing when you suck that cigarette because you're so far inside the closet, or are you just this big of an asshole? And walk away with a smirk on my face. Not that he's gay, but if you gonna feel the NEED to insult a group of people because of their sexual references and compare it into something that actually causes people to die, then there must be some issues with you. Because I know people that don't agree with the LGTB and they don't go insulting and making this kind of comments.

I think bisexuality only makes sense. It's the person, not the organs. Unless it's J2 ;-) that being said, I do tend to focus on men myself, but I've certainly been attracted t women and done some fooling around.

Hey hey! I almost do go as omnisexual, as I've been attracted to transpeople and androgynous people and just about every kind of person, but that's even harder for people to "get" than bisexual is. So I just keep it simple :)

As a former smoker, the first thing that I thought of upon reading this was that one day smokers will be more reviled than gays.

I won't mind living in that world (though I do think smokers have rights, too). It is just a little bizarre to have lived long enough to see this change.
